Bath Day (Puppy & Me)
Published in Hardcover by Cartwheel Books (June, 2000)
Author: Julia Noonan
Average review score:

Puppy and Me
My grandchildren have all three puppy and me series books and love to have me read to them from the books. Julia Noonan is a talented illustrator and writer. I hope she writes and illustrates many more books.

Clean Fun!
This book is a gem. It makes a perfect companion to the Puppy and Me Breakfast Time. This book wonderfully illustrates the charm and wonder of an "outdoors" bath. The story is a simple one of a baby and puppy bathing together and the spontaneous fun that ensues. The illustrations are particularly unique and soft - almost the look and feel of the 1950's. The story is in rhyme also, which is always a plus for the reader and listener.

Be My Valentine Charlie Brown
Published in Paperback by Scholastic (December, 1996)
Author: Charles M. Schulz
Average review score:

Same as always
Pretty much the same as the special,(except for the Pawpet Show),
Charlie Brown waits for valentines with pie in the sky hopes. Snoopy makes a music box out of paper, while Sally makes a diamond and a club, and Charlie Brown watches his "something that is very nice" fall apart.

anonymous ...
This book was really funny. Charlie Brown, Lucy and Snoopy are probably the best charaters.

Beasts, Horns and the Antichrist: Daniel: A Blueprint of the Last Days
Published in Paperback by Cliffside Pub House (September, 1994)

Praise That Author Has Received
Here are some comments I've received on my book:

"I first of all want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for writing your book Beasts, Horns and the Antichrist. Of all of the books I've read recently, yours has had the greatest and most radical impact on my thinking concerning the Book of Daniel. For years, having been steeped in Dispensationalism most of my life, I had wrestled with many of the same problems you addressed in the book. So much of the "orthodox" interpretations of prophecy just doesn't work, and worst of all, although I knew they didn't, I still attempted to make them "fit" with Scripture. Indeed, I cannot any longer."
by John Roberts

"I have come across your book on the web & will be going out to my local Chapters to order/buy it. Thank you for writing and publishing such a book. It's a relief to know that there are people ready and able to counter all this Armageddon nonsense."
by Ted Smith

"I have just finished reading your account of the 70 weeks prophecy of Daniel. I found your analysis of the book of Daniel very interesting reading and very persuasive."
by John Vincent

"I have enjoyed reading your book on the internet. You make some persuasive arguments, and I am inclined to argree with your dating of the book of Daniel and the idea that the events "prophesied" related to that time period."
by John Kessler

"Thanks for making your book on Daniel available on-line. I found it, by God's providence, at just the right time. I'm leading a study for my Sunday morning Bible class related to end-time subjects. Most recently we have touched on the current "sensationalism" and the "industry" built on speculation about Christ's return, at the expense of scholarly considerations of the text. Your work will help us."
by Charles Barron

"Thanks for a very well presented critique on the 9th chapter of Daniel."
by Collin Sadler

"Have just read some of your book on Daniel (online). I liked it and ordered it. I wish I had it months ago. I am finishing up on the study of Daniel at the church."
by Dr. J Felton Harden, Pastor

"Thank you for your research and interest in the subject of biblical study. I've enjoyed reading your work about Daniel."
by Bryan Johnson

"Thank you. This is one of the most well written, concise, intelligent interpretations of Daniel that I have read."
by Jim

"I enjoyed your study on Daniel. I found it very enlightening, well written and researched."
by Richard Bowlin

Daniel in Context
Brodrick D. Shepherd's *Beast, Horns and Antichrist* is an absolute MUST for those interested in analyzing alleged prophecy fulfillments about the "last days." One of the best things about Shepherd's book is that it is so simple and yet scholarly that one does not have to have an extensive knowledge of the Bible to understand it.

When analyzed in context, the "prophecies" of Daniel fall into place so easily that their proper interpretations seem obvious. For example, Shepherd identifies the "prince who is to come" as Antiochus IV Epiphanes; the "annointed one cut off" as the High Priest Onias III; and the "strong covenant" as one made between Antiochus and apostate Jews. Although more sensational interpreters see Jesus and the "Antichrist" at every turn, Shepherd's interpretations are, in my opinion, much more historically accurate.

If you want sensationalism, don't buy this book; but if you want the truth, this book is required reading.

Beat Generation: Glory Days in Greenwich Village
Published in Hardcover by Schirmer Books (December, 2000)
Authors: Fred W. McDarrah and Gloria S. McDarrah
Average review score:

A New Insight into composers I've listened to for years
Quotes about the composers, by the composers, about the nusic, about the inspiration for the music, about the instruments, and about performance... this book of quotes provides an alphabetical listing of topics which include composers themselves and many other subjects. William Shakespeare, George Bernard Shaw, and other famous non-musicians also figure prominently.... its is interesting to read quotes from the composers about a piece I am currnetly playing... gives a new viewpoint, that of the genius who created the music.... and there are a few criticisms too.... a great book for musicians and music-lovers!

Book that takes you to the heart of the 50s "Beat" scene.
This is a wonderful book filled with images of the beat coffeehouse hangouts in Greenwich village circa 50s and 60s. It is great to actually be able to view a photo of a poetry reading as it took place in one of these bohemian haunts. We are lucky that the author had the foresight to take photos in the smoke-filled coffeehouses and beat pads. I have a coffeehouse and the book is a great reference to utilize when trying to recapture the spirit and styling of the 50s coffeehouse.

"Beat Generation" worthy addition to any Beat collection
McDarrah's photograpic work evokes what it must have been like to frequent the bohemian scene of the late '50s and early '60's. Anyone who is greatly interested in the literature of this genre, but too young to have actual remembrances of this era, will find this work fascinating. Many of the photos have never been published before, and thus are a refreshing change from the standard photos of Kerouac, Ginsberg, and crew that have been served up so many times elsewhere. McDarrah, who I believe worked for the Village Voice at that time, has done a fine job in selecting the photos in this collection. My favorites are one of Diane DiPrima, perched on a piano reciting her poetry, and Herbert Huncke visiting Allen Ginsberg and attempting to fix the latter's broken TV. I also enjoyed the many pics of other accomplished, but lesser known figures of the era, and the establishments they frequented, such as the Cedars Bar & Grill

Becoming a Baby: How Your Baby Grows from Day-to-Day
Published in Paperback by Picket Fence Productions (30 October, 2002)
Author: William F. Supple Jr.
Average review score:

A must-have pregnancy book
This book (which concentrates on the baby) is the perfect complement to other pregnancy books (that focus on the mother). I gave this book as a gift to several of my expecting friends. It wasn't until I used for my own pregnancy that I realized how extraordinary it really is. I am a third of the way through my pregnancy and I feel totally 'connected' with my child! This book is great for a first, last or anywhere in-between pregnancy because it provides detailed information about my unborn baby's day-to-day development that I haven't seen anywhere else. I loved the way the information was presented...with adorable images and places for me to jot down notes about how I was feeling and what I was thinking. I use the book each day to see what has changed today in my baby and to jot questions that come up to take with me to the doctor's. This book makes a magical time even more real.

Perfect for the expectant mother
I gave this book to my wife when we found out she was pregnant. It enabled us to follow along each day with the changes that were occurring in our new baby. The book shows a picture of what she looked like, what physical changes were taking place and what she could do. There really is no other book like this. We really felt connected to our unborn child earlier.

Behind the Music: The Day the Music Died
Published in Paperback by Pocket Books (31 October, 2000)
Authors: Martin Huxley and Quinton Skinner
Average review score:

Memories Abound In This Book
Larry Lehmer's hardcover book entitled "The Day the Music Died" gives a very detailed review of the ill-fated Winter Dance Party in which Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and J. P. Richardson, aka "The Big Bopper" took part. If you would like to read a more concise version of these three singers I would strongly suggest you buy a copy of the paperback copy of "Behind the Music: The Day the Music Died." This book contains 122 pages and includes numerous pictures of the singers in addition to the crash site. Comments from family members and those who were close to the singers make up the prose of the book leading to accuracy in what they say. I read the book in three sittings. Make sure you have time when you sit down to read it because you will want to continue. I intend to order numerous additional copies to give as gifts to friends. Many thanks to authors Martin Huxley and Quinton Skinner for putting the book together.

Nice book
For my recent birthday, my mom bought me a copy of this book. She didn't want to spend too much, and although I was skeptical at first, I actually enjoyed it. I was very surprised at how well the text flowed, considering there is just so much separate commentary throughout the course of it. As strange as it may seem, this event just fascinates me, and this book was a good source of information. ....

Best Easy Day Hikes Acadia National Park
Published in Paperback by Falcon Publishing Company (June, 2001)
Authors: Dolores Kong and Dan Ring
Average review score:

Hiking with kids in Acadia
I found this book to be very helpful in planning my vacation in Acadia. I have 2 boys aged 5 and 13 and needed hikes that were doable for the youngest one. He turned out to be the best hiker of us all! This book gave me a good sense of what the trails would be like. We only did easy and moderate and one strenuous one (South Bubble Trail). You will need to buy a more detailed map (like from the AMC) but the trails are well marked. I liked the section on the authors' favorite hikes. We did most of our hikes from their recommends. Don't miss the Wonderland and Great Head trails if you go! Happy hiking.

Great guide to the park
This is an invaluable guidebook for hikers at Acadia National Park. Our family -- including children ages 12, 9 and 3 -- visited Acadia for four days this summer and used this book to select a variety of trails. The authors describe the grade, distance, degree of difficulty and sights of nearly 150 miles of trails. Following their advice, we went along the Wonderland Trail to an enormous tidal pool, and chose the most appropriate route for our group up 1,200-foot Penobscot Mountain; there are many trails to the top of the mountain, and the book helped us choose the right one for our skill and fitness level. The older two children and one parent also climbed the cliffs of the Beehive; it's rightly described as a strenuous trail, but if you're not afraid of heights, the view of the coast is spectacular and the taste of wild blueberries at the top makes it special. (This hike is listed as one of the authors' favorites.) We found the book extremely useful. The book would also be useful for more experienced hikers; the authors have been on all of the park's trails, in all kinds of conditions. And the book fits neatly in a backpack, for handy reference in case you need to check the maps while hiking. Highly recommended.
